The average global bunker price rose at a lower rate than Brent crude during the month of May, according to Bunker Index (BIX) price data.

The Brent settlement average increased by $1.09 per barrel, or 1.01 percent, to $109.18 per barrel in the month of May. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average was up $0.09 per tonne, or 0.01 percent, to $789.05 per tonne.

Since May 2013, the Brent monthly average has risen by $5.90 per barrel, or 5.71 percent, from $103.28 to $109.18 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average has increased by $2.44 per tonne, or 0.31 percent, from $786.61 to $789.05 per tonne.
