LNG bunker fuel seminar in April

Two-day event is due to be held in Houston.

ECM Training, in cooperation with Texas-headquartered energy advisory firm Galway Group, has announced that it is hosting a seminar on liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel later this month.

Due to be held in Houston on April 28-29, the two-day 'LNG for Marine Fuel Seminar' is being held to raise awareness of the opportunities and risks presented by LNG as a marine fuel.

Topics covered include an introduction to LNG marine fuel bunkering, LNG equipment, cargo handling, bunkering safety, risk assessment, commercial issues and regulations.

Confirmed speakers are:

- Aziz Bamik, General Manager, GTT North America.

- Tony Teo, Director, Technology and Business Maritime, DNV GL.

- Cheryl Stahl, Navigation and Environmental Risk at DNV GL.

- Renee Klimczak, Managing Director, Galway Group Energy Advisors, LNG Executive formerly with BG Group & BHP Billiton.

- A.G. Manickam, CEng; FIMarEST Senior General Manager MISC Berhad, Malaysia; Vice President, IMarEST, United Kingdom.

ECM Training points out in its presentation of the event that DNV GL recently reported that an operational fleet of 50 LNG-fuelled vessels exists, with another 70 confirmed for delivery by the end of 2018, which implies more than a doubling of the global LNG-powered fleet over the period 2013-2018.

Galway Group's recent LNG bunkering forecast indicates that LNG will have a 7-25 percent penetration of global bunker demand by 2025.

The 'LNG for Marine Fuel Seminar' is the first event to be organized by ECM Training, which was launched last month by ECM, the founder of ECM Maritime Services, LLC. "ECM Training will soon offer a suite of online training courses tailored to the maritime industry; vessel owners/operators/managers, manning/training centres as well as facilities, terminals and charterers," the company said in an announcement on March 19.
