Adams heads new maritime firm


Former IBIA chief executive is managing director of new Hampshire-based company.



Ian Adams, former chief executive of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), has announced the launch of IMA Marine Ltd..

The new maritime business was officially incorporated on August 5th 2011, just five days after Adams' IBIA resignation came into effect on 31st July. Adams is managing director of IMA Marine.

IBIA announced on July 22nd that Adams had resigned as chief executive in order to look after his family whilst his wife recovered from treatment.

In a message to IBIA members, IBIA Chairman Bob Lintott said: "I am writing to inform you that I have, with regret, accepted the resignation of Ian Adams as the Chief Executive of IBIA, with effect from 31 July 2011. He leaves us in order to look after his family whilst his wife recovers from medical treatment.

"This has not been an easy decision for Ian and I am sure that you will join me in wishing him all the best in his future employment," added Lintott.

Commenting on his resignation at the time, Adams said: "It has not been an easy decision to leave IBIA having seen it grow over the last 10 years. However, I need to consider the needs of my family. I look forward to seeing IBIA continue to go from strength to strength."
