Danish naval architecture firm Knud E. Hansen has announced the delivery of Skipanes, a new ro-ro vessel built for Faroese ferry operator Smyril Line by Chinese shipbuilder Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd.

Measuring 190 metres in length, the vessel offers 3,300 lane metres of cargo space and is designed for year-round operations in the North Atlantic.

Skipanes is equipped with a battery system, has been prepared for shore power connection and also designed to allow future conversion to e-methanol propulsion.

Smyril Line operates ferry and cargo services connecting the Faroe Islands with Denmark, Iceland and Norway, whilst Knud E. Hansen provides design, engineering and project management services to shipyards and ship owners.
