Sunoil Biodiesel has announced that it has received regulatory approval to supply sustainable biofuels in Belgium, adding the country to the list of European markets in which it is authorised to operate.

The Netherlands-based company noted in a LinkedIn post that Belgium joins a growing number of European countries where it holds approval to supply biofuels.

"For Sunoil, entering a new market is about much more than commercial opportunity. It requires strong traceability, robust sustainability systems and the ability to meet local regulatory requirements throughout the supply chain. Having these systems in place gives us a strong foundation for continued growth," the company stated.

Sunoil Biodiesel is a biofuels company that focuses on the production and supply of biodiesel and other biofuel products for use across transport and energy sectors, including marine applications. It converts certified waste oils and fats into high-grade, waste-based biodiesel, operating production and logistics facilities in Emmen and Kampen, supported by trading operations in Amsterdam. Its business combines feedstock sourcing, biodiesel production, trading and distribution, positioning its products as a lower-emissions substitute or blend component for fossil diesel.

Earlier this month, Sunoil reported that the inland barge Birjo II is operating on 100% biodiesel (B100) following conversion from fossil-fuel operation. The vessel, operated by BFT Tanker Logistics, is transporting biodiesel using B100 produced in the Netherlands by Sunoil.
