NedStore begins terminal development

Dutch storage firm begins the first phase of its liquid bulk construction project.

Liquid bulk storage company NedStore Terminals Holding BV has commenced the first phase of a development project to construct a 100,000-150,000 cubic metre (cbm) storage terminal in Flushing, Netherlands, according to industry sources.

Located at the estuary of the Westerschelde along the main shipping routes to Antwerp and Rotterdam, the new terminal will provide deep sea access of at least 14 metres draft.

The first phase of the project, which is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2013, includes the construction of at least six tanks measuring between 5,000 cbm and 20,000 cbm in size.

The new tanks are expected to be used to store refined petroleum products suchs as marine fuel and diesel. It is understood that NedStore decided to build the new facility to meet the rise in customer demand for these products.

The initial phase will cover three hectares of land with further stages of the project covering an additional eight hectares.

Other phases of the project will include refined and chemical product storage and will see a new jetty built which will be able to receive very large ships.
