MGO up $50/mt in Brazilian ports

Marine gas oil prices rise by $50 per tonne within just 24 hours in Brazil.

Bunker prices for marine gas oil (MGO) in Brazilian ports rose by $50.00 per tonne yesterday, in what proved to be a day of significant price rises set by local supplier Petroleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) S.A.

The price of MGO surpassed the $700 per tonne mark in both of the country's highest volume ports - Santos and Rio de Janeiro.

In Santos, the MGO price rose 7.5 percent to $720.50 per tonne, up from $670.50 per tonne the previous day, whilst in Rio de Janeiro MGO price levels skyrocketed 7.2 percent from $694 to $744 per tonne within only 24 hours.

MGO prices in other Brazilian ports also increased by the same $50 per tonne margin. The highest MGO price in the country is currently the northern port of Belem at $790 per tonne.
