Leading independent bunker supplier Peninsula has announced a strategic expansion of its operations in the U.S. Gulf Coast, targeting the offshore market with a primary focus on the Galveston Offshore Lightering Area (GOLA). This initiative is intended to enhance the company's capability to deliver marine fuel solutions to its growing customer base across the Americas.

The supply and operational management is to be conducted by Peninsula's experienced Physical Desk in Houston, with deliveries performed by the 16,626 dwt bunker tanker MT Stenheim.

Peninsula says it will be offering a full suite of marine fuels, including HSFO 380, VLSFO 0.5%, LSMGO, and also biofuels.

One of the notable advantages of the new supply platform includes port optionality between Houston/Port Arthur inshore and the Galveston Offshore area, potentially increasing operational flexibility. Additionally, Peninsula's access to extensive market intelligence is expected to facilitate competitive pricing and strategic market positioning. The company is also set to cater to a diverse customer portfolio that spans various offshore segments and specialised vessel classes.

Mike Parrent, USGC Physical Desk Manager at Peninsula, commented: "Our entry into the U.S. Gulf Coast market is a natural evolution of our global expansion strategy. With our experienced team, robust data insights, and flexible operations, we are well-positioned to deliver value and reliability to customers operating in one of the world’s most dynamic marine energy markets."

Beyond GOLA, Peninsula's operational capabilities extend to South Sabine and Offshore Corpus Christi, which will further enhance its service coverage and convenience for clients.

The firm is also considering entry to the Mississippi at Southwest Pass (SWP) and the LOOP terminal in Louisiana, contingent upon necessary sailing times and customer enquiries.
