ExxonMobil launches Tauranga's only barge service

Supplier enhances offering with arrival of MT Korimako at New Zealand port.

ExxonMobil has commenced barge deliveries of IMO-compliant marine fuel at the New Zealand port of Tauranga.

The service, which came into operation on May 4, enhances the company's offering in the Asia-Pacific region.

ExxonMobil is currently offering barge supplies of DMA-specification ultra-low-sulphur marine diesel with a maximum sulphur content of 0.001 percent as well as DMB low-sulphur marine diesel with sulphur levels of up to 0.01 percent.

The arrival of MT Korimako - the first and only bunker barge in Tauranga - enhances ExxonMobil's bunkering operation at the North Island port, as fuel deliveries are now available for vessels berthed at Sulphur Point along with land-based refuelling for those moored.

Ships will therefore no longer need to wait for a berth to become available in order to refuel. And this is set to significantly lower vessel waiting times and help reduce port congestion.
