Hagland Shipping AS has announced the addition of a Damen Combi Freighter (CF) 3850 to its fleet under a time charter agreement with Germany-based Reederei Gerdes and its commercial arm, over-C. The deal was brokered by maritime advisory firm IntelliMar.

The vessel, with a deadweight of approximately 3,850 tonnes, is built by Netherlands-based Damen Shipyards Group. It is designed for European short-sea bulk operations and incorporates a range of features aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions. These include battery-hybrid propulsion capable of enabling fully electric sailing, shore power connectivity, the ability to operate on B100 biodiesel, wind-assisted propulsion via Econowind VentoFoils, and an optimised hull design.
