Global bunker average falls $13 in April


BIX monthly average declines for the first time in four months but is 5% higher than in April 2011.



The average monthly Bunker Index (BIX) price decreased by $13.09 per tonne, or 1.45 percent, in April compared to the previous month, according to Bunker Index price data.

The BIX global monthly average fell to $889.05 per tonne last month, down from $902.14 per tonne in March. It is the first price decline since December 2011.

In a comparison with the corresponding month last year, April 2012 was $42.40 per tonne, or 5.0 percent, higher than the $846.65 average price recorded in April 2011.
