On 1st and 2nd of February 2011 fuel purchasers, bunker traders & managers, managing directors, general managers, fleet managers and vice presidents will convene in Dubai, UAE, for the Bunker Fuel Management Conference to examine the most successful fuel management strategies. The event will be chaired by Ian Adams, Secretary General of the International Bunker Industry Association(IBIA).

The fourth in a series of executive gatherings on bunker fuel management, the Dubai event will provide a commercial platform for ship owners, fuel suppliers and other key stakeholders to share ideas and actively discuss the most prominent issues within the industry.

Day one will commence with an address by Ian Adams, Secretary General of IBIA, and also include an in-depth review of bunker fuel transactions from both the buyer's and seller's perspective, whilst also analysing the risks for the parties involved.

The second half of the conference day will include a keynote presentation by Eiving Vagslid, the International Maritime Organization(IMO)'s Head of Chemical and Air Pollution Prevention, who will cover the recent developments in IMO regulations affecting the bunker industry followed by the shipowners' perspective.

Day two will explore the most cost-effective ways of addressing environmental challenges followed by a presentation addressing fuel quality issues and the best ways of managing disputes. The day will conclude with an overview of the opportunities for using alternative fuels in the maritime industry.

Both days include roundtable discussions, which will enable attendees to engage in a productive dialog covering the issues which are of upmost interest to the shipping community.

Confirmed speakers for the event also include Henrik Romland, Manager Commercial Operations at Stena Bulk.
