New Branch Manager for OW Bunker HK

Hong Kong manager will also take on the role of Sales and Marketing Coordinator for Asia.

O.W. Bunker, one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel, has today announced the appointment of Morten Kalle as its new Branch Manager for OW Bunker Far East/Hong Kong.

Effective from 1st February 2010, Kalle will also take on the role of Sales and Marketing Coordinator for Asia as the company looks to continue its expansion throughout the region, growing its customer base and market share as well as building further equity in the OW Bunker brand.

Morten Kalle joins OW Bunker from A.P. Moller – Maersk where he was Sales Manager and Key Client Account Manager for Hong Kong and Asia.

"Kalle has lived in Hong Kong for several years, and has a wealth of experience of the market. With his knowledge of the region and real understanding of its cultural dynamics and market demands, Kalle will play a key role in developing OW Bunker’s customer base, maintaining continuity of excellence with existing customers, as well developing new clients from both the local and international shipping community," OW Bunker said in a statement.

"As Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator for Asia, Kalle will also focus on growing the OW Bunker brand in Asia, ensuring that customers, and the market, have a clear understanding of the company’s global positioning and offering. This includes highlighting OW Bunker’s understanding of the global economic situation and how this has impacted the shipping industry, as well as demonstrating the company’s ability to work in partnership with customers, implementing sophisticated fuel procurement strategies that ensure speedy access to quality products when and where they need them, as well effective risk management services that lock in costs and increase profitability, " OW Bunker added.

Commenting on the appointment, Lars Møller, Managing Director, OW Bunker Asia, said: “I am delighted that Morten has joined OW Bunker in what is an important time for the company and the region. Asia is a vital market for the shipping industry, as the global economy continues to recover and global trade increases, and it is critical that OW Bunker continues its growth within the region and seizes the opportunities of the impending upturn.

"Central to achieving this is continuing to demonstrate to customers the difference of our offering, our levels of service and our understanding of the industry and their businesses. This is the hallmark of the OW Bunker brand, and I am confident that Morten will play a central role in continuing to develop it in Asia.”
