OW Bunker appoints Branch Manager in Shanghai

Martin Haxholdt will be responsible for managing the company's development in the Chinese market.

OW Bunker, one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel, has announced the appointment of Martin Haxholdt as the new Branch Manager for its Shanghai operation. The move comes on the back of significant and sustained growth within the region, OW Bunker said.

Haxholdt will be responsible for managing the continued growth and development of the company in China, promoting the business to both local and international customers.

Commenting on the appointment, OW Bunker said "Martin has an in-depth experience of the Chinese market having spent the past few years working in sales and marketing in the region. He also holds a Masters degree in international business from Copenhagen Business School and the Chinese University of Hong Kong."

OW Bunker originally established its Shanghai branch in 2005, operating as trader in an office representing the Group in the Chinese market, providing all grades of bunker fuel oil and lubricants.

The company has significantly expanded its footprint within Asia, following its opening of a South Korean office in 2008 with a further presence in Singapore – the regional headquarters – and Hong Kong.

Commenting on the appointment, Kristian Nielsen, Managing Director, OW Bunker China, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Martin to OW Bunker, and I am confident that based on his experience of operating within the local market, combined with his understanding of international commerce, as well as sales and marketing, he will have a significant impact in helping the business to continue its impressive growth within the region.”

“Despite the tough global economic conditions, China continues to grow at an impressive pace, and it is vital that OW Bunker is well positioned to capitalize on the opportunities that this brings.”
