OW Bunker launches Lübeck supply operations

Leading bunker firm expands its presence in Germany with full range of bunker products at Lübeck.

O.W. Bunker, one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel, has today announced that it has commenced physical supply operations in the port of Lübeck and Lübeck-Travemünde in Germany.

The operation, which will start in mid-August will be serviced under the Group subsidiary Wrist Bunker Supply GmbH, and continues the company’s strategy of expanding and developing its operations in key regions.

The move immediately follows the company’s recent decision to begin physical supplies in Gothenburg.

Wrist Bunker Supply says it will provide product deliveries via its 1,200 dwt barge, DT 83, which can provide up to 1250 mts of product with a pumping capacity of 350 mts per hour, ensuring speedy delivery. The company will provide a full range of quality bunker fuel as well as 1% and 1.5% low sulphur fuel oil and Marine Diesel Oil (MDO) and Marine Gas Oil (MGO). To ensure reliable and continuous product availability for customers, Wrist Bunker Supply has also signed a long-term contract with the local tank terminal, Bunkerstation Hillenberg.

OW Bunker and its subsidiaries have had a presence in Germany for many years, providing physical supplies for customers from Hamburg, the river Elbe up to Cuxhaven, Kiel port, along the Weser river as well as from Wilhelmshaven and Emden.

The company also provides risk management services in the region, as well as acting as world wide traders for its customers all over the world.

Commenting on the announcement, Götz Lehsten, Vice President, OW Bunker, said: “Providing physical supplies in Lübeck and Lübeck-Travemünde significantly strengthens our position within the Baltic region, where we have been one of the leading operators for many years. Our focus continues to be on providing customers with quality products when and where they need them. And despite the economic downturn, we remain committed to a controlled expansion and investment strategy that enables the company to maintain its ambitious growth plans and objectives.
