Singapore posts second-highest yearly bunker sales


Marine fuel volume climbed 0.3 percent to 49.989m tonnes in 2021.

Sales of marine fuel at the world's largest port by bunker supply volume, Singapore, rose by 155,700 tonnes, or 0.3 percent, to 49.989m tonnes in 2021 according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

The annual figure is the best since 2017 and the second-highest in the Asian city-state's history.

Low-sulphur 380 centistoke (cSt) was Singapore's best-selling fuel grade last year with sales of 24.86m tonnes — a drop of 454,000, or 1.8 percent, compared to 2020.

Higher-sulphur 380 cSt rose year-on-year (YoY) by 2.51m tonnes, or 26 percent, to 12.16m tonnes,

Low-sulphur 100 cSt — Singapore's third most popular marine fuel product for the second successive year — recorded a YoY drop of 1.62m tonnes, or 21.2 percent, to 6.02m tonnes, whilst low-sulphur MGO decreased by 340,000 tonnes, or 8.4 percent, to 3.72m tonnes.

Low-sulphur 180 cSt volume, meanwhile, jumped 860,900 tonnes, or 76.1 percent, to 1.99m tonnes.
