Petrobras Bunkering has received authorisation to sell marine fuel products to vessels bound for foreign destinations via barge at the Port of Suape, Brazil.

The state-controlled energy company notified customers directly via email, stating that the approval covers export-destined vessels operating through the northeastern Brazilian port.

The development follows a Petrobras announcement earlier this month that it had begun offering very low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) and low-sulphur marine gasoil (LSMGO) deliveries via barge at Suape, with the service becoming operational following receipt of final operational licences.

Barge deliveries are available exclusively for berthed vessels as the port does not have an inner anchorage, and off-port-limits (OPL) anchorage operations are not currently supported by the new service.

Located in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, Suape is a deep-water port located approximately 40 kilometres south of Recife and serves as a key gateway for container, bulk and tanker traffic along Brazil’s northeastern coast.
