Cockett announces Florida appointments


New Florida office will be operational from next week.



Cockett Marine Oil - owned by Grindrod Ltd and Vitol - has announced the launch of its new office in Florida, United States, which will be operational from December 10, 2012.

The new office, located in Palm Beach Gardens, will be responsible for all Cockett requirements in the US, Canada, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Joining Stephen T. Leonard, who began working for Cockett earlier this year, will be Peter Kratz, formerly from Glencore, Sargeant Marine and Sahara Energy.

In addition, John Colliton, Patrick Lehmann and Vivian Quintana, formerly of Sea Bunkering Americas (SBA) will join Sea Marine Fuels LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cockett Marine Oil US.

Commenting on the news, Karl Beeson, Managing Director of Cockett Marine Oil Ltd., said: "This new office and team will strengthen Cockett Marine's position in a very large market that by some estimates represents over 100 million tons of domiciled customer demand and regional supply. This is a great opportunity for us to capitalize on our new ownership structure with Vitol and Grindrod."
