Singapore sales up 2 percent in November

Bunker sales for the first 11 months almost 2 million tonnes higher than in the same period last year.

Bunker sales in Singapore climbed 2.0 percent in November compared to the previous month, according to data released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Total sales at the world's leading bunker port increased by 69,200 tonnes to 3,615,400 tonnes last month, up from the 3,546,200 tonnes achieved in October. In a comparison with the corresponding month last year the figure was 304,400 tonnes, or 9.2 percent, higher.

With just one monthly figure to go before the end of the year, accumulated volumes for the year so far are only 1,523,700 tonnes below last year's 12-month total of 40,873,400 tonnes. The accumulated total up until November 2010 was 37,380,400 tonnes. This year's figure of 39,349,700 tonnes is 1,969,300 tonnes, or 5.3 percent higher.

Sales of 380-centistoke (cst) - Singapore's largest-selling bunker grade - declined by 66,400 tonnes, or 2.3 percent, to 2,800,700 tonnes in a comparison with October. The result was 154,300 tonnes, or 5.8 percent, above the 2,646,400 tonnes sold in November 2010.

The largest month-on-month change was for 500-centistoke, which rose by 152,300 tonnes, or 39.5 percent, to record its highest sales figure since December 2010 of 537,600 tonnes, up from 385,300 tonnes in October. The figure was also a significant 205,800 tonnes, or 62 percent, higher than during the corresponding month last year.

Below are tables of bunker sales in Singapore for each fuel grade in 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008 respectively with accumulated totals in the bottom row.
