Chemoil: Sales surge in Singapore

Supplier is reported to have seen a significant rise in bunker sales in Singapore and Fujairah.

Leading international bunker supplier Chemoil Energy has revealed that sales volumes of marine fuel have recently doubled at the ports of Singapore and Fujairah, according to Reuters.

Chief Executive Clyde Michael Bandy is reported to have said this week that Chemoil's sales in Singapore, the world's largest port by volume, rose to 250,000-400,000 tonnes per month.

With total monthly sales in Singapore currently at 3.3-3.5 million tonnes, Chemoil is therefore estimated to have a market share of 7.1-11.4 percent, according to this week's figures.

Chemoil International Pte. Ltd. was last year listed as the 9th bunker supplier in Singapore by volume, after rising 10 places from 19th position in 2008.

BP Singapore retained the position of leading supplier for the seventh year in a row in 2009. The oil major was followed by ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., SK Energy International Pte. Ltd., Global Energy Trading Pte. Ltd. and Shell Eastern Trading Pte Ltd.

Fujairah

In Fujairah, the Middle East's leading bunker port, Chemoil's sales volumes are said to have also doubled to 100,000-120,000 tonnes per month.

With annual sales in Fujairah currently estimated at 13-15 million tonnes, Chemoil's market share is estimated to be 9.2-9.6 percent, based on the recently announced figures.

Earlier this month, Chemoil revealed that the financing of the construction of phase four of its storage terminal at Fujairah had been successfully arranged. Once completed, Chemoil's storage capacity will increase from its existing 95,000 cubic meters to approximately 675,000 cubic meters.
