Portland Port in South West England has been licensed to conduct LNG ship-to-ship (STS) transfer operations, according to a LinkedIn announcement by Portland Port.

The new licence allows the port to support LNG transfers directly at its facilities, which Portland Port stated would help reduce transit times and streamline operations for customers requiring LNG logistics services.

The development comes as the port marks 30 years as a privately operated facility.

Portland Port noted that it is already an MCA-approved location for ship-to-ship transfers. The addition of LNG transfer capability expands the range of marine services available at the port.

The port added that the new licence gives customers access to fully compliant marine infrastructure for LNG transfer operations.

Portland Port is located on the south coast of England in Dorset and provides deepwater harbour facilities for commercial shipping operations.
