OW Bunker announces senior appointments

Bunker firm appoints Global Sales Director and Regional Director for Northern Europe.

OW Bunker, one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel, has today announced the first wave of senior appointments to facilitate the organisation’s new corporate expansion plans.

Morten Dehn has been appointed as the new Regional Director for Northern Europe, and Søren Christian Meyer becomes the group’s new Global Sales Director.

Morten Dehn has been with OW Bunker for five years, and has a wealth of industry and market experience. Prior to his appointment as the new Regional Director for Northern Europe, he was General Manager of the company’s Risk Management Sales division.

His new responsibilities will include the delivery of the group’s strategy for the Northern European region consisting of the Worldwide and Physical Sales operations out of Denmark, Germany and Sweden. He will also remain responsible for the Risk Management Sales Division.

Søren Christian Meyer joined OW Bunker in 2005, and has held a range of positions within the OW Bunker Group, most recently as Branch Manager of OW Bunker’s Copenhagen office.

"As Global Sales Director, Meyer will take responsibility for ensuring that the business is wholly customer-focused. Building close, partnership-based relationships with customers that solve the issues and challenges that they face within the market," OW Bunker said in a statement.

"As part of the new strategy, Meyer will ensure that the expected global standards of excellence in customer service are delivered uniformly within each region, and that sales opportunities are maximised across the group, and in key markets, such as offshore, where OW Bunker has specialist expertise," OW Bunker added.

The new strategy, which will be fully implemented by 2011, is designed to enable OW Bunker to continue its exponential growth over the coming years, and will see the global business and sales strategy devolved, delivered and managed across five key regions; Asia, Northern Europe, Central Europe, The Mediterranean and the Middle East and South America.

The new strategy will aim to maximise business optimization in each region, and enhance operational synergies across the group by ensuring closer collaboration and alignment between regional and local offices, as well as the sharing of knowledge on a worldwide basis.

Commenting on the appointments, Morten Skou, Executive Vice President, OW Bunker, said: “Appointing Søren and Morten to their new roles highlights the genuine strength and depth that we have internally at OW Bunker. Both have years of industry experience as well as a real understanding of our corporate strategy, our brand and values, and the high levels of excellence that we expect right across the business.

"I am confident that they will be very successful in implementing the new corporate strategy, playing a central role in continuing the exponential growth that has been generated over the past few years, and delivering our ambitious plans for further expansion and development,” Skou said.
