Vessel Performance Solutions (VPS) has announced a free-to-attend industry seminar in Bergen, Norway, on 16 September, focused on examining how fuel and lubricant management, testing and advisory support can help shipowners and operators improve operational performance and reduce emissions.

The event, titled 'Commercial Advantage Through Efficiency & Carbon Reduction,' will take place at the Quality Hotel Edvard Grieg in Bergen, with registration open via email to marketing@vpsveritas.com. Places are said to be limited.

The half-day programme begins with a reception and lunch at 12:00, followed by a series of presentations running through to 17:30. Topics on the agenda include fossil fuel quality trends, lubricant value management, biofuels beyond fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), and the regulatory framework for decarbonisation.

VPS speakers will include Steve Bee, Group Marketing Director, who will address both fossil fuel quality — under the session title 'Fossil Fuel Quality: Are We in the New Normal?' — and the broader biofuels landscape. Joe Star, Strategic Account Manager at VPS, will cover lubricant management, while Emilian Buksak, Decarbonisation Advisor at VPS, will discuss the regulatory framework.

The event will also feature a guest speaker from classification society DNV. Helge Hermundsgard, Head of Sales at DNV’s Emissions Connect division, is scheduled to present on FuelEU Maritime and EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) submissions and compliance.

The session will conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A.
