Bunker tanker built for Norwegian firm


New vessel to undergo sea trials before commencing operations in Bergen and Oslo.



Nevsky Shipbuilding Shiprepair Plant, LLC has announced the launch of a new bunker tanker Bergen-Tank for its customer Haugland Tankers AS of Norway.

The 850-tonne deadweight vessel was developed by design firm Skipskonsulent AS of Bergen, Norway.

Bergen-Tank is the second bunker vessel to be constructed by Nevsky for its Norwegian client following the launch of the 850-tonne deadweight bunker tanker Oslo-Tank in November 2009.

The vessel will undergo sea trials on Lake Ladoga before eventually being handed over to Haugland Tankers AS.

According to Nevsky, Bergen-Tank is intended to be used for the transportation of clean and dirty oil products with a flash point above 60 degrees centigrade. It will operate in the ports of Bergen and Oslo.

The vessel has an overall length of 47.85 metres, a breadth of 10.0 metres, depth of 4.0 metres and draft of 2.85 metres. Its cargo tanks have a capacity of 750 cubic metres.

The vessel's main engines are 2 high-speed Mitsubishi diesel engines (2m3;500 kw). The power plant includes two shaft generators - 450 kw each - and a 50 kw harbor generator.

Nevsky Shipbuilding-Shiprepair Plant is located approximately 40 kilometres from St. Petersburg in the town of Schliesselburg on the left bank of the river Neva. The shipyard builds and repairs sea and river vessels of various types.
