Chimbusco took part in the "Green Marine Fuels" sub-forum on 25 November, an event held within the 2025 Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality International Forum at the Guangdong–Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Co-hosted by Chimbusco and the China Energy Research Society, the session brought together fuel suppliers, shipowners, and energy experts to discuss how the sector can accelerate its transition toward low-carbon operations.

The forum was built around the theme of linking energy producers with shipping customers to support the wider adoption of alternative fuels. Speakers highlighted how international and national climate frameworks, including the IMO’s Net Zero roadmap and China’s own peak-carbon and neutrality goals, are shaping the timeline for decarbonisation in global shipping.

Chimbusco outlined the company’s progress over the past year, noting that it maintained its position as a leading marine fuel supplier with 28.23 million tonnes of global sales in 2024 and operations in more than 170 ports worldwide.

The company said it has advanced several initiatives in green methanol, biofuels and LNG, from contributing to new group standards to developing mobile bunkering skids and supporting the rollout of methanol bunkering vessels. According to the organisation, a complete bunkering supply chain for these fuels has been in place since July 2025.

Throughout the event, specialists shared perspectives on carbon-neutral development strategies, evolving international regulations, market demand for alternative fuels and trends within the shipbuilding industry. Keynote addresses and panel discussions created a platform for participants to exchange insights on the challenges and opportunities facing shipping’s energy transition.

A signing ceremony concluded the forum, during which Chimbusco formalised cooperation agreements with four organisations: Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation, Guangdong Construction Engineering Group, Guangzhou Gas Group and China National Electric Engineering. These collaborations are intended to widen access to raw materials for low-carbon fuels and enhance coordinated services across the shipping and energy sectors.

Chimbusco said it will continue to expand its global network and apply its service philosophy to support new energy producers and help shipping companies adopt cleaner fuel options as the industry moves toward deeper decarbonisation.
