VBunkers, a bunker tanker manager and operator that is fully owned by energy and commodities trading company Vitol, is recruiting a marine superintendent to be based in Singapore, according to a job listing posted on LinkedIn.

The marine superintendent will be responsible for vessel safety inspections, navigational audits, and ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations, including the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, and the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC). The role also encompasses overseeing SIRE vetting inspections, port state control follow-ups, and managing environmental protection policies across the fleet.

Additional duties listed include monitoring vessel deficiency reports, controlling budgets for deck stores and repairs, and handling crew performance evaluations.

Candidates are required to hold a certificate of competency (CoC) Class 1 or 2 with sailing experience on oil tankers, along with at least one year's experience as a marine superintendent in ship management operations. Experience as a foreign-going chief officer is stated as preferred.

VBunkers operates a fleet of Singapore-flagged bunker tankers, whilst Vitol describes itself as the world's largest independent energy and commodities trading company. Vitol Bunkers, meanwhile, is a physical supplier that performs bunker deliveries across multiple locations in Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia and North America.
