Marine fuel supplier Peninsula says it has expanded its biofuel storage and blending capabilities in Rotterdam, with the addition of 30,000 cbm capacity.

According to map graphics accompanying the announcement, Peninsula's new storage is located at Chane Terminal Nieuwe Maas — one of a number of Chane facilities located in and around Rotterdam.

The bunker firm notes that it has access to nine tanks dedicated to biofuel blending and storage. The site has ISCC certification for compliance and traceability.

Infrastructure at the facility includes three jetties and seven berths capable of accommodating barges up to 135 meters in length, plus a jetty for seagoing vessels. The setup is designed to support inter-terminal transfers with oil companies.

Peninsula says a second phase, in January 2026, will see an additional eight tanks come online, which would bring total capacity to 110,000 cbm.

"This expansion strengthens Peninsula’s operational capabilities in the ARA region and reinforces its role as a key player in supporting Europe’s energy transition," the company said.

Peninsula added that its new setup allows for the blending of any biofuel grade (HSFO/VLSFO), from B5 to B100, with full control over the blending process and product quality — enabling the supplier to blend products to preferred ratios for enhanced customer choice.

Thomas Van Hoeteghem, regional supply manager for northwest Europe at Peninsula, commented: "We are delighted to expand our footprint in Rotterdam, Europe's largest port. This new facility not only strengthens our operational capabilities but also demonstrates Peninsula's ongoing commitment to sustainable marine energy solutions. By investing in advanced infrastructure and flexible blending options, we are empowering our customers to meet their decarbonization goals with confidence."

Chane operates storage terminals in France, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and UK. According to the company's website, the Nieuwe Maas facility comprises 103 tanks, with a total capacity of 1.348m cbm and tank sizes ranging from 1,000 to 30,600 cbm.
