French storage and distribution firm Rubis Group has received its first delivery of biofuel.
On September 1, the asphalt tanker Bitu Atlantic received 347 metric tonnes of a blend of B24 fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) and fuel oil at Algeciras anchorage, Spain, with Cepsa acting as physical supplier and Glander International Bunkering as trader in the operation.
The product delivered was a second-generation advanced biofuel manufactured from waste-based feedstock, Glander said.
Dimitris Mertikas, Key Account Manager in Dubai for Glander International Bunkering, commented: "We take immense pride in our client’s achievement and we are pleased to be entrusted with this project. Biofuel is no longer a future fuel; it is here today.
"More companies are expected to follow suit for their first biofuel supply, and we stand ready to support them," Mertikas added.
