Bunker supplier Brightoil is due in court on November 22 to face an admiralty claim by the owner of the oil/chemical tanker vessel Yelena.

The lawsuit, which has been filed against the owner of the very large crude carrier (VLCC) Brightoil Glory, is related to an alleged collision between both vessels.

The pre-trial conference is due to take place on Thursday at the High Court of the Republic of Singapore.

The defendant is represented by Bernard Yee, Rachel Loke and Mohamed Fadhil Bin Abdul Aziz at Resource Law LLC, whilst the plaintiff's case is being handled by Richard Kuek and Lennon Wu Leong Chong at Gurbani & Co LLC.

The 2012-built Brightoil Glory is one of five VLCCs currently owned by Brightoil in addition to the Brightoil Galaxy, Brightoil Gem, Brightoil Grace and Brightoil Gravity.

The company also owns four Aframaxes (Brightoil League, Brightoil Legend, Brightoil Lion and Brightoil Lucky) and six bunker tankers (Brightoil 319, Brightoil 326, Brightoil 329, Brightoil 639, Brightoil 666 and Brightoil 688).

According to data issued by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Brightoil's Singapore subsidiary Brightoil Petroleum (Singapore) Pte Ltd was ranked as the Asian port's 17th-biggest bunker supplier by volume sold last year, rising one place compared to 2016.
