Rio: 72-hour time limit on nominations

Petrobras announces nomination requirements for Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi.

Brazilian energy firm Petroleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) S.A. has announced that due to local authority regulations, all nominations for the ports of Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi must be confirmed by the Brazilian Customs Office at least 72 hours before supply operations take place.

In a message sent to customers today, Petrobras said that as a consequence, any changes to bunker nominations as well as outstanding payments must be resolved before the 72-hour deadline.

The bunker supplier added that purchasers of marine fuel must also ensure that the ship's flag is communicated within the aforementioned time limit.

Petrobras said that it is "contacting authorities in order to develop a way to optimize the procedures".

The announcement follows news last week that deliveries of marine gasoil (MGO) over 500 metric tonnes at Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi will now be carried out at the anchorage area.
