Petrobras announces new procedures

New commercial procedures for bunker nominations will apply from today.

Brazilian energy giant and bunker supplier Petroleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) S.A. has announced a new set of commercial procedures for bunker fuel nominations.

In a statement, the company said that the new procedures will apply from October 1st, 2008. They are as follows:

a) All Petrobras' quotations shall be valid for an expressly predetermined period of time.

b) All nominations should be placed up to 17:00 hours, local time, of corresponding Petrobras Bunkering offices (Brazil, Singapore, London).

Any nomination received after this time shall be subjected to confirmation (availability and price) on the next working day.

c) All nominations for deliveries at Brazilian ports should necessarily be sent with a copy to: bunker@petrobras.com.br.

In July Petrobras announced changes to nominations in a number of ports located in the southern state of Espirito Santo.

Petrobras said that due to legal restrictions all nominations for the southern ports of Vitória, Tubarão, Ponta do Ubu, Praia Mole and Portocel would now require at least 24 hours notice.

The company also added that nominations will only be allowed to take place on working days.

Last month Petrobras announced that it was increasing its current product range to offer MF 500 at Paranagua and MF 380 Premium at Santos for a trial period.

The sale of MF 380 Premium at Santos will complement the company's existing range of products at the port. Petrobras already supplies low sulphur 380-cst and low sulphur 180-cst there as well as standard 380-cst, 180-cst and marine gas oil (MGO).
