Quadrise to progress to combustion testing after signing Saudi Arabia MoU

Trial to be carried out at refinery and power plant facilities in Saudi Arabia.

Quadrise Fuels International plc, an emerging manufacturer and supplier of MSAR emulsion fuels - an alternative to heavy fuel oil in the global shipping, refining and steam and power generation industries - has announced that it has executed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for progressing its production to combustion trial in Saudi Arabia, as outlined in the company's end-of-year update on 5th July 2016.

The MoU defines the basis of collaboration between Quadrise and its clients in Saudi Arabia to progress the production to combustion trial at designated refinery and power plant facilities within the country.

"Whilst at this stage, we cannot provide firm indications of the timetable, which will be informed by the preparatory phase work, we expect the schedule to extend beyond the spring of 2017 - the originally anticipated point at which the trial would be concluded," Quadrise explained in a statement.

Executive chairman of QFI, Mike Kirk, remarked: "We have been working hard with our partners and our clients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 2016 and are delighted that we have now been able to execute the MoU. This is a critical enabler to commence the preparations to bring this project to reality. We remain confident of demonstrating the value of Quadrise MSAR technology in Saudi Arabia on a commercial scale with combustion testing at a major power utility in what promises to be a significant project for the Kingdom, well aligned with its Vision 2030 Programme."

Commenting on the Saudi Arabia production to combustion pilot programme in July, Quadrise mentioned that there had been constructive dialogue with clients, and that progress had been made, but at a slower pace than originally envisaged. 'Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030' economic reform plan in April 2016 was said to have had a short-term impact on its clients' decision making process.

"Whilst the company continues to work collaboratively to agree terms for the commencement of the project, it believes that the project timescales are now likely to be extended beyond the spring of 2017. The company will provide a further update once its continuing discussions have reached a conclusion and the revised timetable is agreed," Quadrise had stated last month.
