TEPPCO operations normal following Gustav

Marine services group reports no damage to transportation assets after hurricane.

TEPPCO Partners, L.P. has announced that based on assessments to date, its Gulf Coast facilities suffered no damage as a result of Hurricane Gustav, which made landfall on Monday in Louisiana.

The partnership’s refined products pipeline system serving markets in the Midwest and northeastern United States remained operational throughout the storm at reduced rates. Service on TEPPCO’s 14-inch products pipeline was temporarily suspended but has now resumed normal operations.

All terminals are currently fully staffed. TEPPCO does not expect any supply disruptions along its products system as a result of Gustav and is maintaining regular communications with its customers.

As a safety precaution, TEPPCO’s port facilities in Texas City and Freeport, Texas were evacuated which required service on the 30-inch diameter Seaway pipeline between the Texas Gulf Coast and Cushing, Oklahoma to be suspended. The pipeline has now resumed normal operations.

TEPPCO’s Marine Services group, which operates 51 tow boats and 111 barges that transport refined products, crude oil, condensate, asphalt, heavy fuel oil and other heated oil products along key inland waterways and gathers crude oil from production facilities and platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, also did not experience any damage to its assets.

TEPPCO owns and operates an extensive network of assets that facilitate the movement, marketing, gathering and storage of various commodities and energy-related products.

The partnership’s midstream network is comprised of approximately 12,500 miles of pipelines that gather and transport refined petroleum products, crude oil, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gases (LPGs) and natural gas liquids, including one of the largest common carrier pipelines for refined petroleum products and LPGs in the United States.

TEPPCO’s storage assets include approximately 27 million barrels of capacity for refined petroleum products and LPGs and about 15 million barrels of capacity for crude oil. TEPPCO also owns a marine business that transports refined petroleum products, crude oil and lube products via tow boats and tank barges that operate primarily on the United States inland and Intracoastal Waterway systems, and in the Gulf of Mexico.
