Tsuneishi Shipbuilding has confirmed the delivery of its fourth methanol dual-fuel 5,900-TEU container vessel from Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Inc. (TZS), its yard in Zhoushan, China.

The Maersk boxship is fitted with a dual-fuel propulsion system capable of operating on methanol as well as conventional fuel oil.

The delivery follows the recent handover, in June, of TZS's third methanol dual-fuelled 5,900-TEU container carrier.

Delivery of the second ship in the series was carried out on 30 April, also from the Zhoushan yard.

Tsuneishi Shipbuilding said it expects demand for alternative-fuelled vessels to expand further as a result of the evolving regulatory landscape, adding: "TZS will continue to develop and construct vessels that combine environmental performance, safety and operational reliability, contributing to the realisation of sustainable maritime transport."
