Global bunker prices fall 31% in 2015


Worldwide bunker average declined by $164.06 to $365.08 per tonne last year.



The end-of-week Bunker Index (BIX) - the daily average worldwide bunker price quoted in US$ per metric tonne - rose for the second consecutive week on December 31, according to Bunker Index price data.

The global price was up $0.87, or 0.2 percent, to $365.08 per tonne on December 31 compared with $364.21 per tonne at the end of the previous week.

The $365.08 figure was the third-lowest end-of-week price of 2015, whilst the $0.87 increase was the second-least significant of last year.

Between December 31, 2014, and December 31, 2015, the worldwide bunker average declined by $164.06, or 31 percent, from $529.14 per tonne to $365.08 per tonne.
