Bunker price volatility fell to its lowest level since December during the month of April, according to Bunker Index price data.

In a comparison of low-high differentials for the daily BIX global average, April recorded a low-high differential of $8.91 per tonne, down from $12.44 per tonne in March.

The lowest daily global bunker average last month was $785.71 per tonne recorded on April 8, whilst the highest price was $794.62 per tonne on April 2.

Bunker price volatility has now remained below $20 for eight consecutive months. It is the first time that this has occurred since Bunker Index began analysing global bunker price volatility data in April 2009.

It is also only the fourth time since April 2009 that the low-high differential has remained below $10 per tonne. Additionally, last month's figure is the second lowest in the last five years.
