Bunker sales in Singapore fell for the second consecutive month in June, according to data released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Total sales at the world's leading bunker port decreased last month by 55,700 tonnes, or 1.6 percent, to 3,478,200 tonnes, down from the 3,533,900 tonnes recorded in May.

In comparison with the corresponding month last year, June volumes were down 168,700 tonnes, or 4.6 percent. It is the fifth month in a row that year-on-year monthly volumes have fallen.

Accumulated sales for the year so far are 20,886,700 tonnes, which represents a fall of 851,300 tonnes, or 3.9 percent, on the 21,738,000 tonnes achieved during the first six months of 2012.

Sales of 380-centistoke (cst) - Singapore's largest-selling bunker grade - fell by 44,500 tonnes, or 1.7 percent, in June to 2,588,700 tonnes. In comparison with the corresponding month last year, sales were down 294,600 tonnes, or 10.2 percent.

Meanwhile, 500-cst volumes dipped 2,700 tonnes, or 0.4 percent, to 641,600 tonnes. The result was 88,000 tonnes, or 15.9 percent, higher than the 553,600 tonnes sold in June 2012.
