Sanfu Shipbuilding has delivered the final vessel in its first batch of 3,500 TEU dual-fuel container ships to a US shipowner, the Chinese yard announced following a naming ceremony on November 28.

The vessel, which runs on LNG and marine gas oil, marks the completion of the initial series order at the Taizhou-based facility. According to the shipyard, the delivery was achieved with "zero accidents, zero delays," earning recognition from the shipowner.

The ships were designed by German company HB Hunte and feature a forecastle design. They are equipped with vertical natural gas storage tanks, which Sanfu describes as the largest vertical gas tanks installed on a ship to date.

The vessels can carry over 1,000 refrigerated containers and are fitted with remote refrigeration monitoring systems. The shipyard claims the EEDI index meets and exceeds current industry standards, with environmental performance surpassing peer vessels.

To expedite construction, Sanfu established specialised teams for the hoisting technology of high-pressure LNG large vertical gas tanks and the installation and commissioning of high-pressure LNG systems. The company said these measures shortened the construction period.

Yang Yifeng, chairman of Sanfu Shipbuilding, noted: "The successful delivery of this series of ships is the result of the shipowner's steadfast trust, the strong support of our partners, and the hard work of all employees."

The shipyard said it will continue construction of newly ordered follow-up 3,500 TEU dual-fuel container ships.

Representatives from the shipowner, classification society DNV, and Hengfeng Bank attended the naming ceremony at the company dock.
