Meyer Turku has received orders for two additional Icon Class cruise ships, Icon 6 and Icon 7, for delivery to Royal Caribbean Group.

The newbuildings form part of a long-term framework agreement between Meyer Turku and Royal Caribbean Group, securing the shipyard’s access to building capacity through 2036. The arrangement also includes the previously announced Icon 5, which is due for delivery in 2028 and will run primarily on liquefied natural gas (LNG), consistent with the Icon class design featuring dual-fuel engines.

Casimir Lindholm, CEO of Meyer Turku, said: “The orders of sixth and seventh Icon Class vessels are a significant recognition of Meyer Turku and the Finnish maritime industry's talent and expertise. This milestone represents an important step forward in our partnership with Royal Caribbean Group to develop the shipbuilding sector over the next decade and beyond."

Jason Liberty, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, noted: “The Icon Class reflects our bold creativity and engineering excellence that continues to define what a vacation can be. Through our long-standing partnership with Meyer Turku, the Finnish government, and the strong Finnish maritime cluster, we are reimagining the industry for decades to come while also delivering meaningful economic impact for Finland.”

The collaboration between Royal Caribbean Group and Meyer Turku spans more than three decades, during which the shipyard has built 25 ships for the company.

The first vessel in the Icon series, Icon of the Seas, entered service in January 2024, followed by Star of the Seas in August 2025. The third ship in the class, Legend of the Seas, will debut in July 2026 in the Western Mediterranean.

The fourth Icon ship, which will be powered by six Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines capable of running on LNG as the primary fuel, with distillate as backup, is expected to be delivered in 2027.
