NewOcean Energy secures government supply contract

LPG operator to supply ultra-low sulphur diesel to government-owned vessels.

Hong Kong-listed NewOcean Energy Holdings Limited has announced that it has secured a contract from the HKSAR Government, in collaboration with Shell Hong Kong Ltd., for the supply of ultra-low sulphur diesel to government-owned vessels.

As part of the agreement, NewOcean Energy is to deliver not less than 15,000,000 litres of quality ultra-low sulphur diesel and provide comprehensive ancillary services to all government-owned vessels for a period of two years, starting from mid-January this year.

The group's marine bunkering station, which is located at Yaumatei in Hong Kong, will provide 24-hour service to vessels of 11 Government departments including the Fire Services Department and Customs and Excise Department. NewOcean Energy's fleet will also deliver ultra-low sulphur diesel directly to the Marine Police Headquarters in Aberdeen, Hong Kong.

Lawrence Shum, Managing Director of NewOcean Energy, said, "We are pleased to secure the contract, which is a recognition from the HKSAR Government and industry leaders of our outstanding qualifications and capabilities in conducting marine bunkering business in Hong Kong. This success also underscores the progress of our marine bunkering business, which commenced operation since May last year. The construction of our oil depot in Zhuhai will soon be completed and we therefore look forward to achieving greater development of our oil products business."

NewOcean Energy is the largest LPG operator in the Southern China region. The group wholly owns and operates a Class 1 LPG sea terminal in Zhuhai, China for VLGCs (Very Large Gas Carriers) through which it conducts its international import and re-export and domestic wholesale businesses.

In May 2012, NewOcean Energy expanded into the fuel oil supply business with the commencement of operation of three bunker ships and a light diesel fuel supply station at Yaumatei in Hong Kong.

NewOcean Energy has also actively expanded its retail sales in China with a network of 16 bottling plants in 11 cities in Guangdong and Guangxi, complemented by a further network of 17 auto-gas refuelling stations in Guangzhou. Its retail network has been extended to cover Macau and, in the near future, Hong Kong.
