Wärtsilä Gas Solutions has secured an order to provide cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for four new LNG bunkering vessels being built at Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering in China.
The quartet has been ordered by GSX Energy. Wärtsilä noted that two contracts were booked in the first quarter of 2026, with the other two following in the second quarter.
Alongside the full cargo handling and fuel gas supply package, Wärtsilä will also deliver design and engineering for the systems. Deliveries for the first pair are due to begin in December this year.
Barry Yang, sales manager for China at Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, said: “As we see LNG as an enabler of a greener future for shipping, our cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems deliver efficient support for bunkering vessels serving LNG-fuelled ships. The total cargo handling and fuel gas supply package by Wärtsilä represents a flexible and well-proven solution for operational efficiency.”
Wärtsilä stated that the order reflects continued interest in LNG bunkering capacity as more gas-fuelled tonnage enters service. The company pointed to forecasts indicating that more than 1,150 LNG dual-fuel ships could be operating worldwide by 2028.
The Finnish supplier also highlighted its established relationship with the Nantong yard, where it has previously delivered cargo handling and fuel gas supply packages for small-scale LNG carriers, LPG carriers, ethane/ethylene carriers and multi-gas carriers.
The latest order follows Wärtsilä Gas Solutions’ recent contract to supply ammonia fuel systems for two new carriers, extending its activity across both LNG and ammonia vessel segments.
