Ecuador breaks the $1500 barrier


Ecuador is first country in the world since May to quote distillates above $1500/mt, according to Bunker Index data.



Ecuador has become the first country in the world since May to quote marine gasoil (MGO) above US$1500 per metric tonne following yesterday's weekly rise in bunker prices.

The price of MGO at Guayaquil, the country's major bunker port, soared by $38 yesterday to US$1502 per metric tonne following recent increases in the price of crude and gasoil.

Prices were last quoted above $1500 per tonne in Guayaquil on May 22, when the price was $1504 per tonne.
