The Bunker Index Med MGO (BIX MED MGO) - Bunker Index's average price for marine gas oil (MGO) in the Mediterranean - surged $26.25 per tonne today as prices jumped across the region for distillate grades following Friday's $28.50 increase in the price of gasoil on the IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) to $1053.00 per tonne.

MGO prices recorded the most significant price rises today with distillate levels climbing $19-$34 per tonne in Algeciras, Augusta, Fos, Genoa, Gibraltar, Istanbul, Limassol, Lisbon, Off Malta and Piraeus.

As a result the BIX MED MGO rose to $1083.70 per tonne from $1057.45 per tonne on Friday. It is the largest single-day MGO increase in the month so far in the Mediterranean.

The Bunker Index Med (BIX MED) - Bunker Index's average bunker price for ports in the Mediterranean - climbed $15.64 to $852.38 per tonne.

Meanwhile, the Bunker Index Med 380 CST (BIX MED 380 CST) - the average price for 380-cst in the region - increased by $7.64 today to $674.07 per tonne from $666.43 per tonne on Friday. The Bunker Index Med 180 CST (BIX MED 180 CST) rose by $9.07 to $709.07 per tonne.
