Ship to transport fuel from Europe to China

VLCC chartered to transport 275,000-tonne cargo in the first week of December.

Sinopec's oil trading unit China International United Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Unipec) is reported to have chartered a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) to transport a liquid cargo from Rotterdam to China.

According to market sources, Unipec has hired the supertanker Athenian Success to load 275,000 metric tonnes of product on December 4th. However, it is currently unclear if the cargo is fuel oil or crude oil.

China typically sources specific requirements for fuel oil from Northwest Europe in addition to nearby Asian countries. Crude oil is normally purchased from Asia, the Middle East and West Africa.
