Fuel oil consumption rise for utility

Japanese utility reports a 9.2 percent increase in fuel oil consumption in July.

Fuel oil consumption at Asia's largest utility, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), rose by 9.2 percent year-on-year during the month of July following a rise in demand for air conditioning due to warmer-than-average temperatures.

TEPCO, which is also the world's fourth largest electric power company, saw fuel oil consumption increase to 474,000 kilolitres at its power plants in July.

Intakes of fuel oil during the same month declined by 11.8 percent to 433,000 kilolitres in a comparison with July 2009.

Meanwhile, crude oil consumption jumped 23.9 percent to 295,000 kilolitres, whilst intakes skyrocketed 92.8 percent to 214,000 kilolitres.

Please find a table below outlining TEPCO's consumption and intakes of fuel oil and crude oil in July.
