DNV to host fuel efficiency seminars


Classification society is scheduled to discuss emissions standards and fuel management at upcoming event.



Norwegian classification society Det Norske Veritas is scheduled to present two seminars on stricter emissions standards, energy management and fuel efficiency at the upcoming Europort 2009 maritime exhibition to be held in Rotterdam on November 3-6.

The central theme of this year's event is Advanced Technology, imagination becoming reality, where the exhibition will host an overview of the latest technologies for the maritime industry. In addition, the ‘Advanced Technology’ theme will also be represented in the complementary programme of conferences and seminars.

"Newest technologies are aimed at keeping up the pace with increasingly demanding maritime markets. A focus on sustainability and the use of new and advanced technologies are key to solving some of the challenges we face today," said event organisers Ahoy Rotterdam n.v..

The Dutch Prime Minister, Jan Peter Balkenende, will attend the event on November 3rd to open Europort 2009. "His presence at the exhibition underlines the significance of Europort and the maritime sector for the Netherlands," Ahoy Rotterdam said.

A record number 870 exhibitors from 35 countries are expected to displaying their products and services at the four-day event.

In addition to the host country, there will also be national pavilions from the US, UK, China, South Korea, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Poland and Romania. The estimated number of visitors is about 30,000.
