TFA raises bunker surcharge

Fuel surcharge is revised upwards for Australia-North and East Asia member lines.

Member lines of the Australia to North & East Asia Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) have announced that there will be an increase in the bunker surcharge as a result of the recent rise in the price of marine fuel in key port locations.

The surcharge is to be adjusted to US$275 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) with effect from June 12, 2009, except for shipments to Taiwan, which will attract the revised bunker surcharge from June 27, 2009.

TFA members have adopted voluntary policy guidelines and have reached a non-binding consensus on the implementation of the above arrangements.

Customers requiring further information concerning the bunker surcharge have been asked to contact the member lines directly.

TFA Members are: ANL Singapore Pte Ltd, China Shipping Container Lines, COSCO Container Lines, Gold Star Line, Hamburg Sud, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line), Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
