Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has announced the delivery of two dual-fuel LNG carriers to Petronas LNG, with both vessels constructed at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China.

The first vessel, Puteri Johor, was delivered on 29 May, with its sister ship, Puteri Kedah, following on 30 June. Both vessels are owned by joint venture companies of K Line.

The two ships were previously named during a ceremony held on 30 April at the shipyard, attended by representatives from Petronas LNG, the shipyard, Bank of Communications Financial Leasing, China Merchants Energy Shipping, China Merchants Financial Leasing, and K Line.

The name 'Puteri' means princess in Malay, whilst Johor is Malaysia’s southernmost state and Kedah is located in the northwestern part of Peninsular Malaysia.

Each vessel measures approximately 299 metres in overall length with a tank capacity of approximately 174,000 cbm. Both are powered by an X-DF dual-fuel low-speed diesel engine and have a design speed of 19.5 knots.

K Line has positioned the LNG business as a top priority area in its future investments, according to its Medium-Term Management Plan published in May 2022.
