Med average jumps almost $9/mt


Med Bunker Index up to $419.18/mt as IFO 380 and IFO 180 record significant price increases.



The Med Bunker Index (ABP) - Bunker Index's average bunker price (ABP) for ports in the Mediterranean - jumped $8.63 per tonne today to $419.18 per tonne as prices continued to surge in the region for the third consecutive day.

IFO 380 and IFO 180 grades recorded the largest price increases as the Med IFO 380 Index - the average price for 380-centistoke (cst) in the Mediterranean - rose by $9.22 to $361.00 per tonne and the Med IFO 180 Index went up by $9.44 to $379.00 per tonne.

Algeciras, Genoa, Gibraltar, Istanbul, Lisbon, Novorossiysk, Off Malta and Piraeus all registered price increases of between $9 and $14 for standard 380-cst and 180-cst.

Meanwhile, the distillates market recorded less significant price changes today as the Med MGO Index rose by $5.33 to $512.00 per tonne.

The Med Bunker Index has now risen by $16.62 per tonne from the $402.56 per tonne average registered on Monday, whilst the Med IFO 380 Index and the Med 180 Index have increased by $19.11 and $18.61 respectively since the start of the week.

In comparison, the average MGO price in the Mediterranean has risen by $10.33 since reaching $501.67 per tonne on Monday.
