Voyage optimization trial is launched

Jeppesen Marine offers evaluation trial for its Vessel and Voyage Optimization Solution.

Jeppesen Marine is now offering a 45-day trial and evaluation program to introduce prospective customers to its Vessel and Voyage Optimization Solution (VVOS).

Designed to address the needs of owners, operators, charterers and masters of trans-ocean vessels, VVOS allows masters and shore-side managers to develop optimized passages while managing vessel speed, fuel consumption, schedule integrity, seakeeping and environmental conditions.

Jeppesen Marine’s patent-pending Hindcast Analysis is included as part of the "no-cost, no-risk" VVOS trial.

Key performance indicators (KPIs), such as fuel conservation, cargo loss reduction, vessel damage, motion reduction and schedule integrity are selected to match each customer’s operational objectives. Jeppesen Marine then prepares a final report documenting the trial results for each KPI and calculates the cost savings to the prospective buyer.

“By applying accepted ROI analysis to the value that VVOS brings to ship owners, operators and charterers, we are able to quantify the bottom line benefits of VVOS for each customer’s fleet during the trial,” said Pamela Schaffer, Jeppesen Marine VVOS senior product manager.

“This unique approach positions Jeppesen Marine as the only marine supplier that is able to deliver a value proposition backed by a solid, documented financial return analysis.”

“A chief feature of the 45-day trial approach is that Jeppesen Marine can prove our value proposition to customers as part of our sales process. Through the trial we are able to demonstrate that VVOS dramatically improves schedule integrity, reduces fuel consumption and reduces vessel motions. Proprietary vessel-specific models are used to construct detailed passage speed and seakeeping plans as part of developing an optimized route. Customers using VVOS optimized routes have repeatedly seen dramatic improvements in their schedule reliability, seen a reduction in fuel consumption by more than 5 percent over typical weather routing software solutions and have experienced as much as a 23 percent reduction in overall vessel motions,” added Schaffer.
